KOREAN PARENTS
School Life USA offers a comprehensive overseas educational and cultural experience. Our program places a priority on a strong academic life, but recognizes the importance of a developed social life, as well. We carefully screen and select our host families, ensuring that your child will live in a welcoming and caring home environment. With the support of an encouraging host family and School Life USA's dedicated staff, your child can succeed in all endeavors, both inside and outside the classroom.
It is always difficult to be separated from a family member, especially for school aged children. But, School Life USA's personal dedication to your child can allow him or her to take advantage of a great educational and cultural opportunity. Please know that your child's academic achievements, home life, happiness, and protection are all of extreme importance to us.
School Life USA's number one goal is to ensure that its students have the best experience possible, and protecting them is a huge factor in executing this goal. We become very familiar with a community before starting work with a school in the area, and the schools must always meet School Life USA's high standards. As a guardian, Joanna checks on her students on a weekly basis, communicating with both their host families and the students themselves.
Communications between Host Families and Korean Parents
School Life USA requires monthly reports from host families which are carefully reviewed by our staff and then sent to their Korean families. Additionally, Joanna communicates on a monthly basis with the students themselves.

April, 15 years old
Health: April has been healthy since she’s been here. She had one irritation in her eye which I know she had mentioned to her dad but that seemed to have gotten better. Two weeks ago she was fighting a little cold (cough and sore throat) but now she’s fine.
Communication: Because April speaks English so well, there have been no problems with communication at home. She seems to feel very comfortable coming to us with questions, concerns, likes and dislikes. I love how open and honest she is. I do think certain subjects in school, such as history, are difficult for her because the language in the textbook is very challenging.
Relationship: I can hardly believe that April has only been with our family for one month. We all feel as though we have known her for years. I am so proud of how she has made every effort to bond not only with us, but with our extended family and friends as well. We all enjoy spending time together, whether it be helping her study or going out to eat. Both Nicholas and Caroline ADORE April and love having her here as their ‘big sister.’ She is definitely like one of our own children.
Participation in Family Responsibilities: April helps out daily when we are getting dinner on the table, and cleaning up afterwards. She keeps her room/bathroom very neat. I do not ask her to do chores around the house because she is very busy with her studies and really doesn’t have the time.
Student’s Attitude: April is such a positive young woman! She always has a smile on her face and loves to laugh. She approaches her studies, and challenges with such an open mind and is committed to succeeding. We admire her work ethic and positive attitude so much. She is a great role model for our children, and a pleasure to have in our home. We are BLESSED!

Sean, 15 years old
Sean is a wonderful person and a joy to be around. He seems to be happy and involved with our family. His attitude is great and normal like all teenagers at his age. He communicates quit well. There have been a few times that he didn't understand but for the most part he does well. I feel like the relationship between him and the family is good. There is always room for improvement everyday. We learn from each other in this difficult situation. Having students like Sean makes the foreign exchange student program a wonderful program to be a part of. ...
I would also like to thank the organization for letting my family be apart of theirs.
Sincerely,
PR & TR

Alex, 12 years old
Hello Joanna,
I hope you and your family are well. It was very nice to meet all of you at the picnic that you hosted. Alex is doing very well here. He is communicating well and is a pleasure to have in our home. He gets along very well with our family members as well as other teenagers in our neighborhood and at school. As for participation in family responsibilities, he is willing to do whatever we ask of him, although we don't ask for much in that area. He has a very good attitude and a pleasant personality as well as a good sense of humor. He and our son Dean get along very well and have much in common.
